1. Overview

n8n AI Assistant is a Chrome extension that helps you search real n8n workflow templates, generate custom workflows with AI, and paste them directly into your n8n canvas — on official n8n.cloud/n8n.io or any self-hosted instance you connect.

2. Data Collection

• No personal data collected by us: The extension does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information or browsing data on our servers — we don't operate a backend that your data passes through.
• Local storage only: Your settings, connected n8n instance URLs, and AI provider API keys are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage APIs, and never leave your device except as described below.
• AI provider API keys: If you use AI workflow generation, your OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google API key (whichever provider you choose) is stored only on your device and used solely to call that provider's API directly. We never see or transmit your key.

3. Permissions

• activeTab / storage: Used to inject the assistant UI and save your preferences locally.
• scripting (optional host permission): Used only when you explicitly connect a self-hosted n8n URL in settings — it activates the assistant on that one origin you approved. We never request broad access to all websites.
• Host permissions for n8n.io, api.n8n.io, and your chosen AI provider: Required to search real n8n templates and to call your AI provider's API directly from your browser.

4. Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or transmit your data to any third party. Search requests go to n8n's own public template API; AI generation requests go directly from your browser to the provider you configured.

5. Third-Party Services

n8n (api.n8n.io): Powers workflow search — the same public API n8n's own template gallery uses.
OpenAI / Anthropic / Google: Whichever you select for AI generation receives your prompt and your own API key directly from your browser. No data is routed through our servers.

6. Security

We use Chrome's extension storage APIs to keep your data on your device. We have no server, so we have no access to it.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page and reflected in the Chrome Web Store listing.
